History of the Trenton Community Center

In 1987, after school consolidations in Todd County, the Trenton Elementary School was closed. In order to save the facility and the gymnasium from the wrecking ball, the Trenton Men’s Club (which would later become the Trenton Civic Club) decided to purchase all buildings and grounds. In September, 1988, the Trenton Community Center, Inc. was formed as a 501(c)(3) charity. The organization’s mission is to preserve, maintain and improve the old school, cafeteria and gymnasium.
The facilities are offered for rental to the public for area events, luncheons, church services, civic meetings, basketball games and larger gatherings. All utilities, maintenance, and construction improvements are funded from rentals of the facilities or from donations from the Trenton community and public at-large.

A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.
